Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
-developed by Drs. Zindel Segal (Center for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto ON ), Mark Williams (Oxford Mindfulness Center, Oxford UK), and John Teasdale (University of Cambridge, Cambridge UK)
-focuses on depression relapse prevention and now applied to various psychological disorders such as anxiety and well being
-details in “Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression” by Z. Segal, J.G. Williams & J. Teasdale (2002, Guilford Press) and the MBCT website
-integrates the concepts of mindfulness with Cognitive Therapy creating a distinctive approach to symptom management
-program is 8 weeks with all day session following themes of cognitive awareness and preventing the downward spiral into depression
